History of MotherHouse, Inc

In March of 1997, a dedicated group of social service workers identified the need for a safe place for parents to turn when emergencies occur. With the support of local community groups, business, organizations and individuals, MotherHouse Crisis Nursery was opened on February 4,1999.

MotherHouse Crisis Nursery is licensed by the Illinois Department Of Children and Family Services as both a Group Home and Child Welfare Agency.

Objectives:
To prevent the abuse and neglect of infants and children
To support and strengthen families by providing referrals to needed resources, services and treatment.

Services:
24-hour emergency care for infants and children under the age of seven
Free services, no income eligibility
Nurturing, safe environment with well trained and professional staff
Medical assessment and developmental screenings as needed
Crisis counseling
Parent support groups
Referrals to community agencies
Resources and support for parents

Food - children-friendly
Baby Furniture
